Random acts of kindness

So the other night I missed the last metro train from Virginia back into DC by exactly 6 minutes.  Frustrated and not sure what to do, I then saw a bus fly by me bound for DC.  I sprinted after it for two blocks hoping I'd catch up at a red light, but it got away.   So I slowed to a walk, dropped my eyes to the ground and started going through my remaining options.  THEN, a random car pulls over next to me.  The woman driving leans over, cracks open the passenger door, and says "hey, get in, i'll drive you up to that bus".

I was amazed.  I couldn't beleive there are people out there that would offer a ride to a strange man at midnight on a Tuesday!?!  I took her up on the offer, caught the bus, and made my way home, with my faith in America and the capacity for goodness in ordinary people restored.

And after sharing this story with a few friends and hearing about Jason's experience below, we decided to start this blog... to share, encourage, and pay homage to unexpected acts of kindness.

Oh.  And I still have to pay it forward for the ride.  Ideas anyone?
